MissonsNichols Hills United Methodist Church is active in many missions both in the church and in the community (local and worldwide).
We partner with Volunteers in Mission to various locations every year. We have taken teams to Rio Bravo, Mexico, Cuba, Africa, and to locations in Oklahoma for medical missions, vacation Bible school, and construction projects. This year our church youth will participate in a renovation and construction project at Epworth UMC. In 2004 will see a team from our church travel to Belize. Our church partners with Skyline Urban Ministry to support various missions such as: providing meals quarterly to "Alive on Saturday Night" (meal for people in need). We have a food drive to stock the pantry at Skyline. We also have a clothes drive for Skyline to fill their clothes closet for children going back to school. Our church was instrumental in starting and maintaining a JETS program for North Highlands students. The mission of the JETS Program is to provide an after-school and summer experience for children and youth who are at risk in the metropolitan area of Oklahoma City by instilling a sense of trust in life, confidence in themselves and faith in God. Once a year in the as we prepare for the Christmas season and remember the birth of Jesus we collect gifts for our Angel tree to help children in need. We also provide financial support to missionaries at Exodus house. Exodus House is a six-month temporary residential project established for the purpose of equipping released ex-offenders and their families to become productive, self-supporting, cohesive family units. |
