Purpose
and broad scope definition of a general pledge:
A general pledge is a financial commitment in recognition of
God's economic resources that are on loan to God's people. The
purpose of your general pledge is to underwrite the following
areas as well as many other areas of Christian Stewardship too
numerous to list. For a complete list of these opportunities
please consult with our Senior Pastor.
- Programs
- Worship
- Music
- Youth Programs
- Stewardship
- Counseling
- Evangelism
- Ministries:
- Christian Education
- Care
- Congregational Life
- Missions
- Benevolence and Apportionment which supports such United
Methodist programs as
World Service, Ministerial Education Fund, Black College
Fund, Oklahoma City
University, Campus Ministries, Urban Ministries, Circle
of Care, Oklahoma Indian
Missionary Conference, and various other conference designated
organizations, as
well as the Administrative functions of the Oklahoma United
Methodist Conference.

- Salaries and benefits. Funds used to remunerate ministers
and staff.
- Buildings and appurtenances - Funds used to maintain the
buildings,
grounds and paving, furniture, equipment and fixtures.
Each year in late October, a pledge drive is conducted to ascertain an "Estimate of Intended Giving". This estimate allows the budget for the coming year to be developed and an allocation of funds between our various programs to be completed. Nichols Hills strives to maintain a balanced budget with all bills being paid as soon as they become due to avoid interest charges. To learn about using direct debit click here
Other avenues for financial
giving may include:
- Gifts for the expansion, updating or renovation of church
structures and
appurtenances.
- Donation of Real or Personal Property by means of a Will
or the creation of
- Trust Agreement for the administration of your gifts.
- Memorial gifts in memory of a loved one or a friend.
- Endowed gifts wherein the principal (corpus) may be restricted
and the income
used for specified or unspecified purposes pursuant to the
donor's intent.
Endowed gifts may also be given with no restrictions on
the use of the principal.
- Donation of a gift to purchase Chancel flowers, Easter
Lilies, Christmas Poinsettias, Mission Candles, Chalices
for Confirmands, etc.
- Gifts toward specific missions may include some of the
following:
- Skyline Ministries
- Volunteers in Mission (VIM
- United Methodist Committee on Relief
