Taizé Prayer Service: pronounced (Te-ZAY) is an ecumenical, peaceful way to pray, using easy to learn musical chants, silent meditation, and scripture readings...a meditative, common prayer. Gathered in the presence of Christ, we sing uncomplicated repetitive short songs, like breath prayers, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of the Spirit in its simplicity. A few words sung over and over again (mantra) reinforce the meditative quality of prayer. They express a basic reality of faith that can quickly be grasped by the intellect, and will gradually penetrate the whole being.

Join us for this monthly Taizé Prayer Service on the last Wednesday of every month, at 6:00pm

Covenant Discipleship is a small-group ministry in the Wesleyan tradition. These groups meet weekly for one hour. The agenda is a covenant written by the group based upon the General Rule of Discipleship: To witness to Jesus Christ in the world and to follow his teachings through acts of compassion, justice, worship and devotion under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Through a process of mutual accountability and support for practicing the basics of Christian faith, members "watch over one another in love." Covenant Discipleship groups help to form people as dependable and mature disciples of Jesus Christ and leaders in discipleship. Read More (Contact Rev. Lucky for more info)

Prayer may be said to be the breath of our spiritual life.
(John Wesley Explanator Notes:
1 Thess. 5:16 )

Prayer Ministries: As Christians, our spiritual strength and nourishment comes from God through daily prayer. James tells us to "pray without ceasing for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." People need prayer and to know that there is a place or person to call when in need of prayer is comforting.Nichols Hills UMC has an active prayer chain if you would like to submit a prayer request to the Prayer Chain please do so electronically or the church office at 842-1486. Labyrinth: is an archetypal pattern found in religious traditions in various forms around the world. Perhaps the best known is the Labyrinth which was inlaid in the floor of the Chartes Cathedral, near Paris, France around 1200 AD. Several European cathedrals had Labyrinths which were walked by thousands of faithful Christians as a symbolic way of making a pilgrimage to the Holy City, Jerusalem. In recent years, walking the Labyrinth has been rediscovered as a way to connect with a deeper spirituality which integrates body, mind, and spirit. Read More. (Occasionally available, Contact Rev. The Academy for Spiritual Formation:
The Academy fulfills a unique place in the lives of Christians reaching for deeper spiritual growth, whether clergy or lay, whether leader or participant. I have never known a spiritual frontier which combines such a wide spectrum of Christian experience: the academic teaching, the spiritual guidance, the liturgical experience, the small group depth encounter and sharing, and silent reflection -- not only balanced, but interwoven through the days. Yes -- it changes lives, including mine. Read More (Contact Rev. Morton for more info)

Spiritual Gifts:
Every person is gifted by God. Spiritual gifts are innate – inborn orientations that transcend skills or abilities. When we understand our spiritual gifts, we understand that certain aspects of our lives are natural, normal, and easy. No one has to work hard to use his or her gifts, though each and every gift can be developed and strengthened.

For most of us, a handful of gifts will be evident at any point in our lives. In different situations, at various phases of our lives, new gifts may emerge as others recede. Spiritual gifts are from God, and God’s spirit blows where it wills – what is strong in us today, may become secondary tomorrow. What remains constant is that we are gifted by God to use our gifts for the common good.
