Visiting children will enjoy Sunday school; classes for those
entering K through 6th grade in the fall, are upstairs from
9:35 to 10:40 a.m. For children below kindergarten, classes
are in the Child Care and Welcome Area with class time extended
through the worship hour for those children who remain in the
nursery. Information about any of these classes, can be obtained
at the Welcome Desk or in the office of the Minister of Christian
Education.
Early Childhood Sunday school. Tots S.S. (ages 18 months
to 3 years) have Charlotte Brown, Christen Brown and Liana Rowe
as their teachers. Preschool (for older 3's, plus 4's and 5's
not in K) is taught by Jeannette Sias, Carol Joullian and Shari
Kerr. The season and Sunday school lessons are enhanced by Patty
Withrow's wonderful and exciting music time as the Preschoolers
join the Kindergarteners in the childcare area from 10:20 to
10:40 a.m.
Elementary Classes Grades fourth to sixth grade teachers
are Michelle Barnard, and Ron and Darlene York while children
first to third grade have teachers Janet Jones, Susan Lucky
and Tim Baker. Kindergarten teachers are Dorothy Jarnigan, Mary
Marshall Wright. All classes will use role play, art, social
and introspective skills as they focus on the Bible and stories
from the book of Ruth, the Love chapter in I Corinthians, I
John 3 & 4, then Samuel & I Kings.
Children's Church for Elementary Ages. Children grades
K thru 3rd are invited to remain with parents in worship, or
they are welcome for Children's church in the Nursery Area.
Leaders: 1st Sundays - Liz Church; 2nd Sundays - Shandi Stoner;
3rd Sundays - Laura McLain ;
4th Sundays - Errin Campbell; and 5th Sundays - Susan Morrison-Dyke.
Extended Sunday School for Preschoolers. Children below
Kindergarten leaving from worship, must be accompanied by someone
to sign them into the nursery. During this time, an extended
lesson for preschoolers is offered following the children's
time in worship both to children already in the nursery and
those coming from worship. Carolyn Bradley and Faith Dewberry,
Children's Ministry Interns, are leaders for the extended session.
Light and Word is a six-week required
course for learning to serve as acolyte. It also covers how
to study your Bible for students in third through sixth grade.
